S. Bradford Horton, Director – Lean Systems, is a highly sought after trainer who has provided Lean improvement support to organizations in Rochester, Canada, China, and Mexico for more than 30 years.  Implementing the philosophy of Dr. W. Edwards Deming in companies large and small is Brad’s passion.

While working at Kodak, he facilitated several week-long events, resulting in setup time reduction of 73% for 100-ton injection molding presses.  In the Mexican single-use plant, improvements reduced setup time for 7 pieces of packaging equipment by 89%. 

He has also worked with smaller organizations to achieve significant Lean improvements in both production and support functions.  These include reducing response time in customer service by 60%, increasing efficiency at a small distributor by 35%, and reducing quoting time at a custom capital equipment manufacturer by over 20%.  His contribution to continuous improvement at the John L. Norris Addiction Treatment Center prepared the organization for submitting its New York State Excelsior Award application.

Brad is a distinguished a member of the Mid-Atlantic Region Board of Directors for the Association for Manufacturing Excellence (AME), and is a past president of the Board for the Mid-Atlantic Region.  He is active in the American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS), and teaches APICS, CIRM and CPIM Certification courses for the Rochester Chapter.  

Brad holds a B.S. from SUNY Brockport and was a key member of the team that developed the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s (NIST’s) series of Lean Manufacturing courses.  He is a certified instructor for these courses.
