Implementing ERP in 180 Days or Less

 

PROBLEM:  

With customer demand increasing, existing information systems were cumbersome and inefficient.  In addition, the company was taking on increasingly more complex parts and assemblies, requiring a detailed bill of materials in order to track cost information.

APPROACH:

When the company began their ERP software search, two key areas for consideration were scheduling and a quality component.  They decided to implement VISUAL Manufacturing, a comprehensive but affordable ERP package with an integrated quality management system. 

The software vendor provided the technical expertise, while CMS provided project management.  In addition, resources from various departments within the company were dedicated to the project.  The combined team devised an implementation plan, prepared a test database and procedures, and designed a pilot program to identify any problem areas and make adjustments prior to the full, company-wide implementation.

RESULTS:

In less than 5 months, the accounting and manufacturing software components were fully implemented.  Prior to implementation, the company operated at 85% utilization.  They now produce the same volume with only 60% utilization.
